An avid interest in baking led business owner Patricia Capstick to create The Pantry Shelf Company. Launched in 1987, The Pantry Shelf Company has enjoyed over 16 years of growth in the Specialty food industry. As a former educator, Patricia holds a Masters Degree from Kansas State University. With teaching experience at all grade levels from Kindergarten to University, the creation of The Pantry Shelf Company was in progress during her appointment at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan.

With great flavor and scratch quality as priorities, Patricia developed three muffin mixes, Poppy Seed, Pumpkin, and the exceptional Cinnamon Fudge. Produced as a true muffin, rather than a cake-like mix, the product list has grown to more than 30 products. The products are natural, AND all mixes can be prepared Fat Free/Low Fat, as well as by the Traditional Method.

As new products are developed, the company continues to look for the most flavorful ingredients available, which is consistent with The Pantry Shelf Company philosophy: Create scratch quality baking mixes using premium ingredients.

Today's product list remains focused on an extensive variety of muffins. Exceptional Flavors include Coconut Macaroon, Gingerbread, Blueberries N Cream, and of course Cinnamon Fudge. In May 2000, The Pantry Shelf Company moved into their new building in Hutchinson, Kansas. a total in house operation, the Company continues to do its' own product development, blending, packing, warehousing, and shipping.

In 2002 the Pantry Shelf was awarded the From the Land of Kansas Company of the Year award by the Kansas Department of Commerce and Housing.
